Google Talk

Google Talk is an excellent way to keep in touch with other staff members throughout the District and best of all, it's free!  You are automatically setup to be able to chat with anyone having an active Cabarrus Apps account, there are just a few things you need to know in order to start collaborating......

Where to Start?

• Log into your Cabarrus Apps account: https://www.google.com/a/apps.cabarrus.k12.nc.us
• Your username is your firstname.lastname (ex r.trump)
•  Click on the Chat icon.

Setting up

• The Talk Gadget will open up.
  
  
•   Click Sign In; it will automatically log you in.
•  The program will start and you'll see your status (which you can change by clicking it) along with anyone in your chat list (starts out empty)

• To add users you wish to chat with, click on Invite to Chat and in the box that appears type in that user's Google address.
• You must type in the complete address (username + apps.cabarrus.k12.nc.us)  See below:

• Once they accept your invitation they will show up in your list and if they are online, simply double-click their name and start chatting away!

Optional Chat Method

• You are also given the choice to download the client to you r computer, this way you will not have to log into Google Apps every time you wish to speak with someone!
